Cisco Live US 2019

Last week from June 9-13, 2019, Cisco’s world-renowned annual customer and partner conference ‘Cisco Live’ took place in San Diego, California (USA). ngena – one of Cisco’s important strategic partners, was present at the event as well, which is “designed to build the foundation for the digital future by providing attendees with education, connections, and inspiration”. From technical education to future-focused thought leadership, 1:1 meetings with Cisco experts to connecting with Cisco partners or having fun at the Cisco Live Celebration: the ngena team took part in it all!

In this blog article, we took a look back and asked three questions to the ngena team about their experiences at Cisco Live!

Marcus, what was the most important outcome of the event?

As Cisco is our core technology partner in developing ngena’s unique end-to-end automated network platform and the SD-WAN-as-a-Service portfolio, we enjoyed a multitude of meetings with senior executieves of Cisco as well as with domain experts from product management and engineering. We used the opportunity to discuss and better understand the strategy, architecture and product development of Cisco across different service areas. We were able to ensure a very good alignment about the future development of ngena’s platform and services with Cisco’s roadmap as well as further strengthen our joint go-to-market activities.

Dietmar, from a product point of view: Which topics did you discuss with the Cisco experts that will become relevant for our customers’ networks in the next 12-18 months?
We had quite intensive days, filled with discussions and information-sharing during CLUS. Together with the experts from Cisco we explored topics which are beyond WAN connectivity to expand our SD-WAN-as-a-Service solution with advanced value-added services within the next 12-18 months. Some of the key topics we discussed were:

  • to establish end-to-end segmentation across multiple domains WAN/LAN/WLAN to enhance user experience,
  • embedding cloud security for secure internet access,
  • how Edge Computing can accelerate user experience in combiniation with our SD-WAN benefits,
  • integrated IP communication for voice and data including unified communications services, to improve the ease of integration.

Bart, being new to the ngena world: What was your biggest highlight at Cisco Live and how did you perceive ngena’s awareness and reputation within the Cisco world?
It was really great to be so warmly welcomed at CLUS. It is clear that Cisco and ngena have a strong and special bond and have a great future together. The technical dialogues and level of understanding from both sides were very advanced. I doubt, I have ever seen so much respect amongst engineers when sharing their knowledge and expertise.
